October....November...Gobble, Gobble!

Well, October was a month of hardship and we are so glad it is over. I can't believe that November is now coming to a close too. Let's start with October...
So I was having absolutely terrible tooth pain for a couple days. I woke up one morning and decided I couldn't take it anymore and I had to go to the dentist. I was really afraid it was a root canal, well my fear came true. They checked out the tooth and then they said, "are you ready?" I was like, for what? A root canal, UM WHAT? They did the root canal right then and there. The only way I made it through was the lovely gas they provide. From now on any dental work I get, I will have gas. It made it much more tolerable and I didn't sweat (have a panic attack) like I normally do. :)
Previous to my root canal Grayson had ANOTHER case of hand foot and mouth. This was the worst yet, his mouth was surrounded by sores, as well as the inside. It was miserable and he wasn't very happy. Well, that led us to the hospital a couple weeks later. I got a call from his daycare saying they saw reddish brown in his diaper; they told me not to be alarmed but wanted me to get a doctor appt. I immediately started to panic because I just had a strong feeling that he was peeing blood. We went to the doctor and after two hours of tests and waiting it was confirmed blood in his urine and he had high blood pressure. We were sent from there to Children's Hospital. First we rushed home to gather food, clothes, and toys, I knew it was going to be a long night. At Children's we had more tests, more blood work, more urine samples, until they decided to admit us to the hospital that night. He was spilling blood and protein in his urine and that meant his kidneys were in distress. We got admitted and Andrew and I tried to sleep crammed on this tiny "bed" in our hospital room. The next day, we had an ultrasound done. Grayson was so unhappy about it and was screaming and crying. Andrew and I traded places, I held the little man down and he was so worn our from screaming he fell asleep. They were able to get a very thorough ultrasound after he was asleep! Phew! I was exhausted too from the whole experience. The test results came back positive so then the dr. suggested having a biopsy because it could be an infection or a chronic disease. I still tried not to panic, but this is my little boy we are talking about. We both agreed that this would be the best decision, and to go forward with it. The next day we were in the hall playing and some Samford nurses were there for their clinical work. We asked them about their uniforms and Grayson just loved one of the girls we were talking to. The next thing we knew we were getting called down for surgery, and that sweet nurse got to come and observe. When we got down to the OR area the girl got to take him back, and he didn't even cry. I was crying. God had sent a sweet angel to us. It was such a precious reminder that in everything he loves us and is right there with us! That made me tear up even more, that my heavenly Father loves me so much. He did great in surgery and we had a long afternoon of him resting. I was afraid he wouldn't lay still but he was so tired from the anesthesia that he slept most of the day. That night he was back to his normal self.  Throughout the whole time at the hospital Grayson was is such good spirits, and was so friendly to all the nurses. He made it easier because of his delight and his joy. I still remained in a light fog as we were waiting to hear results. The next day was Halloween and Children's did an amazing trick-or-treat event for all the kids who were there. It was even funnier that our "angel" nurse was wearing the same costume. They got their picture taken and it even made it to the Birmingham Newspaper. We had fun trick-or-treating and got lots of fun toys and stickers. He even got to meet a life size Elmo, we have a new love for Elmo! When we got back to the room, the doctor came in with good news. It was an infection that would go away on its own, post infectious glomerulonephritis, which was caused by the hand foot and mouth disease. Hallelujah! So many people were praying for us, we were praying, begging, for good news! Thank the Lord that he is so gracious and that he hears our prayers, that he brings us good news, that he brings us blessings! We have been going back to clinic to do more blood and urine samples to determine if the infection is going away.  Grayson has been on high blood pressure medicine and we are now able to wean him off of it as we monitor his blood pressure.
Wow, this was a long entry, and a long journey for us.
November has been a month of traveling and wonderful family time. We have so much to be thankful for and are so blessed by the family and friends we have. They bless us each time we see them or talk to them. They bless us with their prayers and faithful friendships!

Lord, thank you so much for all the amazing blessing you have bestowed upon us! We are not deserving of your love, your mercy, your grace. But thank you that despite our sin you are faithful because we belong to you. That you love us even in the midst of our sin, and that you are there in the middle of our hardships. Thank you that you have great things in store for Grayson's life, and that you are healing him more and more daily. Thank you for all the love that surrounds us. And thank you most of all for sending your son to die for us, that we can be washed clean of our sin, and that we can live a life a freedom in you. Thank you, Lord for you are all the love we need and more than we could ask for, Thank you!

OCTOBER!

October, a wonderful time of the year! The seasons start to change and the weather is getting a bit cooler. Yeah! Its about time! We are all doing well. We have had several sicknesses at our house but now we are all recovered! Grayson is more fun than ever! Yesterday, I purchased a wagon from a friend and we went on a ride. It was so much fun! Making the most of every day, and thankful for the beautiful gifts we have been given in each other!

School Starts!

Wow! Summer has come and gone and now here we are back at school! We had the best summer! Pool, beach, zoo, play dates, and so much more fun! Grayson and I enjoyed every minute! He was so much fun and talking up a storm! He learned so many new words this summer! Just to name a few: cat, dog, rain, bubbles, NO, pop, truck--every time ones passes he says it, car, choo-choo, airplane, pool!!! And now he is practically repeating most things we say. Each afternoon we would sit on the back porch and have a "pop"--popsicle! Yumm! I would take all his clothes off because it stained his skin, so I was pretty sure it wouldn't be coming out of his clothes! We would then go play in our baby pool in the backyard! We traveled to California and had a great trip! We traveled home on the plane all by ourselves! We were gifted with a guardian angel to make sure our trip was wonderful! School has begun and it is going well! Grayson has had a hard adjustment to going back full time! I think he loved being spoiled with mommy! Instead of our lazy mornings, its now up and out by 7. Busy, busy! I started my new job and I'm really enjoying it! I know its going to be a great year!!
Love to all! 2 Timothy 1:7 For  God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of sound mind.

SUMMER!!

YEAH! Summer is here! We have started it with a blast! This weekend was one to remember forever! My 30th birthday couldn't of been more special! Friday I met my parents for lunch and after we were seated for a minute around the corner comes my amazing sister! I couldn't stop jumping up and down! The best surprise ever! Then not only that but she helped create the most beautiful party for me on Saturday night! It was so amazing, every detail! I have the most amazing family and friends! It was so much fun, and I enjoyed every moment of the celebration! We wore out my fairy godmothers/father, so they whisked themselves back to ATL so they could rest! That really was a magical weekend! Thank you for everything all who helped to make it as amazing as it was!
Grayson and I have lots of fun plans this summer! Today we went swimming and he wasn't sure at first. He was like what is this about and kept clinging to me..it was so funny! Then he really began to love it! Another fish in the family! Can't wait for more summer swimming, which I'm hoping will result in long naps! LOL! Off to more fun this summer!

February...March...APRIL!

How time passes quickly! We have been so busy the past couple months. Grayson's little mister party was a total blast! It was so much fun, and loved how everything came together! It was such a wonderful celebration! In March we ventured out to California, and it was so much fun! The plane ride there was adventurous, as we were delayed for several hours in Texas, shock! But Grayson was the most amazing child, we were quite impressed! He was happily waving and blowing kisses to everyone he met! He was spreading joy to all he came across. California was early mornings---4am thanks G and early to bed. It was wonderful time to visit with my precious family that we miss so much! Grayson got to go to the beach for the first time. He loved the sand--wasn't so sure about it at first... and we walked out to touch the waves. We loved visiting with his Great Grandparents every day, trying on new hats and playing with the much loved broom! I know Andrew had a blast skiing, as I got to have some fun girl time! Loved every minute of it! We loved it so much, Grayson and I are going back in July! Can't wait!
April! Well, where to start? This month started out with a bang, literally! I was on my way to work, and I decided to turn around to go back for something. As I was turning around, BANG! I hit a mailbox, and of course I hit it just right! It put a dent in my tail gate and shattered my back glass. At first I was like, what just happened, then I started to cry, thinking how stupid I was. Did I really just do that? What in the world. I know accidents happen, but lesson is --never turn around for anything--too bad go without it---and always look around you. LOL! Then, we were without a car for a week--so my chaffer Andrew, who is quite adorable, picked me up from school and toted me around! He loved it, I know! After all that, our fridge breaks down and we have to get a part replaced! Thank the Lord, we had magical helpers and were able to get an appliance man to come fix it that day! While that is happening Andrew gets a stomach bug, fun! Then the next day, we have lovely plumbing problems, and I'll leave that up to your imagination! It all ends with a rash that is on Grayson's face--and we had to go to the Dr. to get a cream and a note to return to school. PHEW! I'm exhausted even typing this! Well, all that to say I have been laughing though this, and in our circumstances we have to find the joy! Love to all, and whatever you may be facing, I hope you can find the joy and laughter in all your circumstances!
*Check out these beautiful pictures my amazing sister took! Thanks Megs!

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
