March Madness!

Well, like I seem to say in mosts posts the time passes too quickly! Not only that, I need to update my blog! LOL! Well, what's been going on in the Capstickdale household? Not much, just a newborn, and a very active, pushing the limits three year old, running this house! Olivia "Livy" Capstickdale was born in December! She is such a precious gem! What a sweet personality and she is just so happy! I love her sweet smiles and laughter every time I look at her. She has been such a delightful addition to this family! The Lord really knew what he was doing by giving me a girl! One of each, a perfect combo! Grayson loves Livy! A little too much at times, like head butt kisses and eye poking! But he is learning boundaries with her and is working on his listening ears! It is finally warming up here and we can get outside more. G needs lots of exercise and we are making sure he is getting it! :) Love you G! He is riding his balance bike so well! He loves it, and we bring it everywhere we go! I have it in my car right now!
The kids are a delight and God is teaching me so much about myself through them daily. Taking the time to learn and change is hard but it is worth it. This time around I feel Andrew and I have it down a little better, and teamwork is essential for us. Though, if I didn't have such a helpful husband, I really don't think the transition would have been so smooth. Love you!
Summer is right around the corner, and we are so excited. Many more fun adventures await for this new family of four! Love to all! Sorry it's so short, but my sweet suga, suga, Livy, is awaking from her nap!

September….October!

Wow! How the time passes quickly! I've had "update blog" on my to do list for several months now. As you can see, I'm finally getting around to it! Lets start in April. In April I started to feel a little moody, and my face was breaking out like crazy. I was like whats going on? Am I pregnant? Well low and behold, I was! It took me a day or so to get the idea in my head as excitement and after that, we have been over joyed! Sickness lasted much longer this time…till about 16 weeks. I wasn't sure when it would end. Andrew and I went to Captiva Island in June for an "adults only" get away! It was so nice to get away and sleep, but I was still feeling nauseous. Andrew was very gracious, and he didn't mind just laying around! In July, we went to California to visit! We had the best trip! We went to the beach and played in the sand every day! It was hot there too; I couldn't escape the heat this summer! What a fantastic trip we had. G loves going to Cali! We also started potty training in July! Wow, now that is a fun treat for parents! It's like having a puppy. Except, more wet underware, bed sheets, and the occasional wet floor and tennis shoes! What a fun time! Now he is doing great but it sure is a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Three days? Whats that about, I think we are still working on it two months later! LOL! A work in progress, but he is such a champ! He had a lot of changes with a new "big boy" room and getting rid of diapers. Well, enough said! He did awesome though!
School started back in August, with more heat…at least I could be inside! Off to a running start and we are still running! School has been very busy this year and I'm wiped out! Being pregnant the second time around, working full time and running after a two and a half year old is nothing but exhausting. I've just decided to get in the bed much earlier because now not only do I wake up all night, G has decided that between 5:30-5:50 is his new wake up time. How glorious! :) LOL! I guess he is just preparing me for the lack of sleep I'll be getting with his new little sister!
He is SO excited about having a little sister! I hope he is as sweet as he is excited when she arrives! He will lean his head on my tummy while we read at night and ask, "What's the baby doing?" I usually reply with sleeping, but sometimes I'll tell him he can feel her squirming around. He'll reply, "I think she's sleeping." Ok thats what she's doing honey!
She will be here around Christmas time, hopefully before! The hospital won't let you schedule out too far in advance for a c-section. So I'll know in like five more weeks what her official due date will be! I have a lot to do between then and now so its all good! Being so busy has made the time go by quickly which is good, since we are approaching the lingering last months! Come on already!!
Andrew has been so helpful and willing to take on more than usual to let me rest! Its been quite nice, can this last after the baby too?

Well onto the holidays we come! G is going to be a firefighter for Halloween and is so excited! He has a megaphone, jacket, hat, and badge! Cutest fireman I've ever seen! :) Love to all and will update again soon!
Little Girl! Can't wait to meet you!

Oops...

Forgot some December pics….here they are Ta-da!

I didn't even cry what a big boy I am! I love Santa!

December, January…..February!

Wow, I've really let this blog lapse! So sorry for not staying on top of it better! We will start from December….
We had the best Christmas break! It was so incredibly relaxing and we ate the best food! Grayson also had the best time! I enjoyed spending time with my little man every day and seeing our wonderful families! Andrew and I even got some R&R! Thank you! Grayson got trains and many other fun gifts! He loves his trains…THOMAS! We are going to take him to ride Thomas the Train when it comes to town this April. He is going to love it!
January…Happy NEW YEAR! Here we are 2014! Never a dull moment around the Capstickdale's. After the holiday, Bella was limping pretty severely, so I took her to the vet to have a look. Low and behold, a torn ACL! Really? Really? We scheduled surgery for the 9th and she has been in recovery since. Leash walk only, no jumping, no running, relaxation? WHAT, I mean if you know Bella there is not much relaxing with her, she is on the go moving dog! GO Dog GO! Even though, she has been jumping on beds, couches, countertops to get food, when greeting people, and took off after another dog, she is ahead of schedule for her recovery! So how about that!
We also had a snow storm here on the 28th. What a day that was! Our schools didn't let us out in time and everyone was trapped! I left a little early to get Grayson because his school was closing early. I was  in such good sprits, A snow day what fun! Not AT ALL! I was going along just fine until I started sliding into the median. I was able to get out and back on the road, but not far. I had to abandon my car, and walk. I was fuming, and unprepared. I thanked God that there was a ski shop ahead, where I purchased a hat  and warm socks. I hiked it up to my amazing friend, Bridget's house, she calmed me down and clothed me with proper clothes to walk in the snow. I walked down HWY 31 to meet up with Andrew and Grayson. Luckily Andrew was able to pick up Grayson from daycare! We drove as close to our house as we possible could, then we abandoned his car and walked home. Out of no where a kind man asked us if we wanted a warming blanket for Grayson, YES! We wrapped him up like baby Jesus and off we went. He was such a good sport! Once we were all together it was all ok, we could walk one more mile home. We finally got home, safe and sound! The next couple of days were a blast! Grayson loved playing in the snow, and we did't have school for the rest of the week! God constantly reminded me that day that he is with me, in the smallest ways he reminded me that he is there to take care of me. He provided in so many ways, it was such a sweet reminder of his love and care for his children!
February!!! Happy Birthday and Happy Snow days!! LOVE!
Well it was another scare of snow this week, so on Monday night I got a text, NO SCHOOL! WHOOT, WHOOT!! But no snow! We finally got snow Wednesday night and enjoyed playing in it on Grayson's Birthday! What a fun week, no school and SNOW! Grayson just loves the snow! He got a new play kitchen, and is becoming a very good cook. Chef Grayson served me popcorn, made donuts and yogurt! YUMMM! He loves being the new Top Chef around the house--well at least he did yesterday! I can't believe we have a TWO year old. He is showing the true colors of a two year old though! Yesterday I went to a store to pick something up and he was having a fit. He was laying on the floor because he wouldn't let me carry him. The lady who worked there walked by, I told her that he was two today, and we laughed! I think I'll have to put more patience into practice and laugh our way through this!
Here are some fun pics of our sweet boy!

October....November...Gobble, Gobble!

Well, October was a month of hardship and we are so glad it is over. I can't believe that November is now coming to a close too. Let's start with October...
So I was having absolutely terrible tooth pain for a couple days. I woke up one morning and decided I couldn't take it anymore and I had to go to the dentist. I was really afraid it was a root canal, well my fear came true. They checked out the tooth and then they said, "are you ready?" I was like, for what? A root canal, UM WHAT? They did the root canal right then and there. The only way I made it through was the lovely gas they provide. From now on any dental work I get, I will have gas. It made it much more tolerable and I didn't sweat (have a panic attack) like I normally do. :)
Previous to my root canal Grayson had ANOTHER case of hand foot and mouth. This was the worst yet, his mouth was surrounded by sores, as well as the inside. It was miserable and he wasn't very happy. Well, that led us to the hospital a couple weeks later. I got a call from his daycare saying they saw reddish brown in his diaper; they told me not to be alarmed but wanted me to get a doctor appt. I immediately started to panic because I just had a strong feeling that he was peeing blood. We went to the doctor and after two hours of tests and waiting it was confirmed blood in his urine and he had high blood pressure. We were sent from there to Children's Hospital. First we rushed home to gather food, clothes, and toys, I knew it was going to be a long night. At Children's we had more tests, more blood work, more urine samples, until they decided to admit us to the hospital that night. He was spilling blood and protein in his urine and that meant his kidneys were in distress. We got admitted and Andrew and I tried to sleep crammed on this tiny "bed" in our hospital room. The next day, we had an ultrasound done. Grayson was so unhappy about it and was screaming and crying. Andrew and I traded places, I held the little man down and he was so worn our from screaming he fell asleep. They were able to get a very thorough ultrasound after he was asleep! Phew! I was exhausted too from the whole experience. The test results came back positive so then the dr. suggested having a biopsy because it could be an infection or a chronic disease. I still tried not to panic, but this is my little boy we are talking about. We both agreed that this would be the best decision, and to go forward with it. The next day we were in the hall playing and some Samford nurses were there for their clinical work. We asked them about their uniforms and Grayson just loved one of the girls we were talking to. The next thing we knew we were getting called down for surgery, and that sweet nurse got to come and observe. When we got down to the OR area the girl got to take him back, and he didn't even cry. I was crying. God had sent a sweet angel to us. It was such a precious reminder that in everything he loves us and is right there with us! That made me tear up even more, that my heavenly Father loves me so much. He did great in surgery and we had a long afternoon of him resting. I was afraid he wouldn't lay still but he was so tired from the anesthesia that he slept most of the day. That night he was back to his normal self.  Throughout the whole time at the hospital Grayson was is such good spirits, and was so friendly to all the nurses. He made it easier because of his delight and his joy. I still remained in a light fog as we were waiting to hear results. The next day was Halloween and Children's did an amazing trick-or-treat event for all the kids who were there. It was even funnier that our "angel" nurse was wearing the same costume. They got their picture taken and it even made it to the Birmingham Newspaper. We had fun trick-or-treating and got lots of fun toys and stickers. He even got to meet a life size Elmo, we have a new love for Elmo! When we got back to the room, the doctor came in with good news. It was an infection that would go away on its own, post infectious glomerulonephritis, which was caused by the hand foot and mouth disease. Hallelujah! So many people were praying for us, we were praying, begging, for good news! Thank the Lord that he is so gracious and that he hears our prayers, that he brings us good news, that he brings us blessings! We have been going back to clinic to do more blood and urine samples to determine if the infection is going away.  Grayson has been on high blood pressure medicine and we are now able to wean him off of it as we monitor his blood pressure.
Wow, this was a long entry, and a long journey for us.
November has been a month of traveling and wonderful family time. We have so much to be thankful for and are so blessed by the family and friends we have. They bless us each time we see them or talk to them. They bless us with their prayers and faithful friendships!

Lord, thank you so much for all the amazing blessing you have bestowed upon us! We are not deserving of your love, your mercy, your grace. But thank you that despite our sin you are faithful because we belong to you. That you love us even in the midst of our sin, and that you are there in the middle of our hardships. Thank you that you have great things in store for Grayson's life, and that you are healing him more and more daily. Thank you for all the love that surrounds us. And thank you most of all for sending your son to die for us, that we can be washed clean of our sin, and that we can live a life a freedom in you. Thank you, Lord for you are all the love we need and more than we could ask for, Thank you!

OCTOBER!

October, a wonderful time of the year! The seasons start to change and the weather is getting a bit cooler. Yeah! Its about time! We are all doing well. We have had several sicknesses at our house but now we are all recovered! Grayson is more fun than ever! Yesterday, I purchased a wagon from a friend and we went on a ride. It was so much fun! Making the most of every day, and thankful for the beautiful gifts we have been given in each other!
I told him to "smile" oh what a beautiful smile!

School Starts!

Wow! Summer has come and gone and now here we are back at school! We had the best summer! Pool, beach, zoo, play dates, and so much more fun! Grayson and I enjoyed every minute! He was so much fun and talking up a storm! He learned so many new words this summer! Just to name a few: cat, dog, rain, bubbles, NO, pop, truck--every time ones passes he says it, car, choo-choo, airplane, pool!!! And now he is practically repeating most things we say. Each afternoon we would sit on the back porch and have a "pop"--popsicle! Yumm! I would take all his clothes off because it stained his skin, so I was pretty sure it wouldn't be coming out of his clothes! We would then go play in our baby pool in the backyard! We traveled to California and had a great trip! We traveled home on the plane all by ourselves! We were gifted with a guardian angel to make sure our trip was wonderful! School has begun and it is going well! Grayson has had a hard adjustment to going back full time! I think he loved being spoiled with mommy! Instead of our lazy mornings, its now up and out by 7. Busy, busy! I started my new job and I'm really enjoying it! I know its going to be a great year!!
Love to all! 2 Timothy 1:7 For  God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of sound mind.
